Featured in Mum Ultrapreneur by Susan Odev

I finally got around to reading Susan Odev’s book Mum Ultrapreneur this morning. I am honoured to be featured in it along with many other Irish and English mothers who run their own businesses. Being interviewed by Susan gave me an opportunity to reflect on my experience as a writer and a publisher.

I can’t believe that this time last year I was so excited and so scared as I began the process of bringing Happiness it’s just a habit to life. It seems like such a long time ago now. I have learned so much in this year; about running a business, about myself, about what is possible when we decide to commit ourselves to a task even when we don’t know exactly how we will complete it.

We are all capable of so much more than we realise…… at least until we make a decision and a commitment to ourselves and our dreams. So if you are a woman out there with a great idea, start to explore that idea… you’d never know you may end up with a business or a book!

Susan’s book  Mum Ultrapreneur is available at http://www.amazon.com and on her website http://www.mum-ultrapreneur.com

Learning new things..

Lately, I have been so excited as I have been learning lots of new things. I know I am beginning to see the world in a whole new way. I am enjoying myself in a way I haven’t done for a long time.

What new things have you been learning?

What are you proud of?

Why not start this week with a list of the things you feel proud of instead of your usual “to do” list?

Maybe your list will include practical things like learning to drive or learning something new on the Internet?

Or maybe you have been kind to someone who needed a little help?

Maybe you broke free from a limiting, unhelpful belief you were carrying around?

Maybe you achieved a goal that others told you was impossible?

Make a list and see what amazing things you rediscover about yourself!

And ENJOY your achievements!!!!!!

Aah, it’s Friday!

Time to give yourself a clap on the back. You worked hard this week, you achieved a lot. Whatever didn’t get done can wait til next week.

What lovely treat are you going to give yourself this weekend;

a long walk in the park,

a trip to the cinema,

a bit of retail therapy,

a visit with a friend who raises your spirits…. whatever you do let it be something that warms and comforts you. Speak to you again next week when we will both be refreshed and restored.

Give happiness today!

Buy a pretty thank you card and write a little note to someone who was kind to you. Make it someone who is rarely thanked like the cheerful tea lady in your local hospital or the helpful person in your favourite book shop. Use your imagination. Make someone elses day….. and you get to feel good too.

Have fun!

Sunshine

After so many dull days, the sun is shining. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine too!

Winner of the “happy” book for January 2010

I found it impossible to choose so “there’s one for everyone”. Each person nominated had been so helpful to others. Imagine their smiles when they open the post! I will be emailing those who made the nominations to ask for physical addresses today. Each book will have an enclosed card which reads;

Thank you for being a generous soul and a beautiful spirit in a world that could use a million more people just like you

Take the time today to do a kindness for someone. It is amazing how far-reaching a simple, random act can be. We cannot always pay back what we have been given but we can always pay it forward!

Sometimes…

..when we begin to build a happier life, sad memories come pouring in. Sometimes, we can feel as though we will drown in the flood. Sometimes, we can picture ourselves like so much driftwood cast up on the shore. Sometimes like that driftwood we need to just lie there and let the sun warm us. Sometimes, we need to remind ourselves that we survived the storm….

Later, when we are warmed up in our bones we can turn our hands to simple pleasures. We can let ourselves relax into gardening or baking or hugging the cat. We can take the days more slowly. We can do simple kindnesses for others. We can treat ourselves gently, as gently as we would treat a beloved friend who had survived the storm.

Kathy Mattea with Ready for the storm. Go gently “amid the noise and haste” this weekend…

You just have to laugh!

Lately some generous person has been sending me lots of information about Viagra. I don’t know why they just don’t give up because 1. I have no need of it! and 2. I am never going to post these advertisements on my site.

But you just have to laugh and acknowledge this person’s persistence!

Did something happen to you today that instead of getting frazzled about it you just had to laugh?

Almost every day brings us things we can get cross about or we can just…laugh. A good belly laugh is the best medicine!
